WORKING PRINCIPLE OF DC MOTOR

The working principle of DC motor is based on Fleming’s left hand rule. According to this rule, when Current passes in the Magnetic field by a coil. Magnetic force produces torque which causes the dc motor(ac motor) to rotate.

Contruction of DC motor and DC generator are same but only working is difference them.

CONTRUCTION OF DC MOTOR ( DC MACHINE )

DC MOTOR ( MACHINE) is divide in to two part-

  • Stator part.
  • Rotor part.

Stator part: this part not rotate in dc motor.

Yoke : This is outer part of dc machine.

pole & pole shoes : The pole is directly connected to the yoke by welding.”POLE”. and Pole shoes is made for support field coil and Spread the flux evenly in the air gap.

Field coil & winding : it is inserted on pole.it is made of copper. And it is wound on the pole than it called field winding.

this is all part of stator.


Rotor part : This is rotating part of dc machine.

Armature core : It is made of thin laminated steel disks for reducing eddy current losses.

Armature winding : It is placed on armature core slots.

Commutator : it is main components of dc machine . it is also called machenical rectifier.Commutator made of copper and cylindrical shape .The commutator is convert ac of armature in same direction current in outer circuit by brushes.

Brushes: it is made for electric connection with rotating commutator.

Bearing: it is used for reducing friction losses.
